The term Research Paper implies a written report on a research conducted by the writer, and research is search for new knowledge using systematic methods.  It is a broad term that includes scholarly articles published in academic journals, essays submitted in post-graduate courses and dissertation submitted at the end of a PhD program. The data collected through primary research is analysed by using statistical methods and the findings are put up for consideration The focus of PhD dissertations is on original concept development in a highly specialized domain, scholarly articles mainly focus on current issues and criticisms and may use knowledge from more than one subject domains or a cross disciplinary approach and essays at post-graduation level generally focus on novel applications of established concepts. A research paper generally consists of three sections with the body of the text placed in the middle. The format and writing style for presenting a research report is prescribed by the institute or journal editorial board.
